Kamigō Warming Canals

These canals were designed by the residents of the Kamigō area to warm the cold water from Mt. Chōkai, making it usable for agriculture. The canals are wide and shallow with many steps the water has to flow down, mixing it with the air. Built in 1927, they were the first of their kind in Japan.
