Kinowanosaku Site

National Historic Site. Spanning about 720 m on each side, these nearly square historical ruins were once the local government office for this region ca. 9th century (Heian period). This was where provincial governors would be sent when assigned from the central government. Records show that it faced tsunamis and flooding from rivers.
