At the northern end of Tobishima Island, the overlook “”Nagisa no Kane”” offers a view of the island’s west coast, featuring shoals (abrasion platforms) and marine terraces created by erosion from waves. This terrain was carved by the sea as Tobishima Island was uplifted, causing multiple terraces to form over time. The island is surrounded by an abrasion platform that forms a shallow area.
On the upper part of the terrain, a forest of Japanese black pines (Pinus thunbergii), planted since the early 1900s, protects the island from seasonal winds.
