This baumkuchen is made with 100% rice flour from Sakata in the Shōnai Plain. Other local ingredients include yogurt from the Chokai Plateau (Chokai Plateau yogurt flavor) and La France pears grown in the Kariya area of Sakata (La France pear flavor). Each flavor has its own colorful, eye-catching package that features local culture and history, such as the Sankyo-sōko Rice Storehouses and shishi-gashira lion head masks.
