Naso-no-shirataki Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall that stands 26 m tall and 11 m wide. The rock it flows over is volcanic rock from Mt. Chokai estimated to be about 100 thousand years old. Nearby is Kinpō Shrine, which served as a base for mountain asceticism on Mt. Chokai. As you descend the long stone steps, you can see the main shrine building on your right and the waterfall on your left.
Kinpō Shrine is also home to an annual ritual called Choukurairo Mai. This traditional dance, held every year at the end of May, is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan, “Kotaki no Choukurairo Mai.”
